Bogota

The trip really started 8 months ago when we realised Lufthansa had great offers to their new direct route to Bogota. A couple of weeks before the departure, we were organising the route with the backpackers Bible, the lonely planet.

After our 11h flight from Frankfurt, we finally touched down in Bogota at 8pm, with a nice 14ºC. All is fine since we booked our first night through internet at the "Alegria´s Hostel" in old town of Bogota... well, our booking wasn´t on anybody's book at the hotel reception, so we almost ended up looking for an alternative place. In the end we had to share single beds.

The facilities were world class with unlimited hot water from the lovely pipe coming out of the wall.

We walked a few blocks to the center of Bogota, always checking the maps and information of our favourite on the way (David wrote that amazing sentence!!!). For our first afternoon (more awesomeness from David).

Breakfast was delicious and included a Colombian special of fried corn balls... Feels like I'm still in Tennessee actually.. Seriously, it was really good and included foods that I really can't remember or pronounce.

A cable car took us to the best view of Bogota. A city of 8 Million, it is more of a massive, polluting blob than anything else, but was worth the visit. Paul and Alex managed to get sunburned on a cloudy day.

Bogota was a massive city, full of construction, stray dogs and latin music. Can't wait to see what the rest of the trip has in store!
